Renewable energy

2025 Our switch to renewable energy

We are moving the Gibbon Experience from fossil fuel to clean power. Step by step, with real changes on the ground. We started in 2025 and aim to complete the transition in 2026.

Our treehouses sit in Nam Kan National Park, and our office is in Huaysai. Cutting noise, smoke, and fossil fuel use helps both the forest and the planet.

What is changing

Cooking

We are replacing fire stoves with electric stoves in camp kitchens. Water boilers in treehouses for tea and coffee. This reduces wood use, smoke in work areas. The kitchen team will still cook the same recipes, just with steadier heat and less hassle and carbon footprint.

We are also experimenting with a homemade biogas system to reduce firewood use and minimize costs for surrounding villages.

Water

A solar powered pump now pushes water to storage tanks during the day. No fuel deliveries and far less pump noise. Gravity does the rest.

Transport

We added 2 electric 4×4 vehicle that will be charged partly by solar. Electric scooters have also replaced standard motorbike for our daily use.

Timeline

2025
Start of transition. First solar array live, water pump switch, first EV, first kitchen on electric stoves.

2026
Scale up. All camps on electric cooking, larger solar capacity with storage, routine EV charging on solar, generator use minimal and only as backup.
